The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) under the leadership of Dr. Haruna Mairiga is taking proactive steps to enhance its disaster response capabilities. 

Recently, the agency visited the Jigawa State Fire Service and Galaxy Internet, a leading technology company, to explore innovative solutions for disaster risk reduction and mitigation.

Collaboration with Fire Service:

SEMA’s visit to the Fire Service aimed to strengthen their existing partnership and enhance their joint response to emergencies and disasters. 

The two agencies shared experiences, expertise, and resources to improve their capabilities in mitigating and responding to disasters. 

Dr. Haruna Mairiga, SEMA’s Executive Secretary, emphasized the importance of collaboration in reducing the risk of disasters and protecting citizens’ lives and properties.

Embracing Technology with Galaxy Internet:

SEMA’s visit to Galaxy Internet focused on developing a softwire system for real-time alerts in the event of fire outbreaks or other disasters. 

This cutting-edge technology will facilitate prompt response and effective management of emergencies, reducing the risk of damage and loss of lives. 

Dr. Mairiga highlighted the importance of leveraging technology in disaster management, and Galaxy Internet’s head of technology, Abdulkadir Muhammad, welcomed the collaboration to develop a tailored softwire system.

These visits demonstrate SEMA’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of Jigawa State’s citizens. 

By exploring innovative solutions and collaborating with key stakeholders, SEMA is working towards a more resilient and disaster-prepared Jigawa State.

The Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Haruna Mairiga, has expressed his heartfelt commendation to the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, for his unwavering dedication and tireless efforts towards providing succor to the citizens of the state. 

Dr. Mairiga praised the Governor’s commitment to ensuring the well-being and safety of the people, particularly in times of crisis and disaster. 

He acknowledged the Governor’s support and partnership with the Agency, which has enabled them to respond effectively to emergencies and disasters, and to provide relief and support to those affected.
