A stakeholders’ engagement meeting in Dutse, Jigawa State, highlighted the crucial role of social inclusion systems and processes in promoting resilience and accountability in governance across Nigeria.
The meeting, organized by Connected Development (CODE), was held at Tahir Guest Palace Hotel Dutse on April 18, 2024.
The Project Trust, funded by the MacArthur Foundation, aims to build a community of practice in six states: Bayelsa, Kwara, Anambra, Jigawa, Osun, and Yobe.
The project brings together over 24 communities of practice members to leverage their work and activate members in their respective states to lead the implementation of accountability systems.
Objectives of the training is to strengthening and building resilience for CODE through the setup of a Community of Practice (CoP), Legacy building through institutionalizing accountability systems developed by CODE across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria, and to Facilitating social inclusion systems (GESI) by demanding accountability for the implementation of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018.
CODE will mobilize Civil Society Organizations and Community-Based Organizations to constitute the Community of Practice within a state per zone to scale up social accountability processes and demand transparency.

The CoPs will drive the campaign for social accountability by advocating for the institutionalization, adaptation, adoption, and utilization of systems built by CODE in Kaduna from 2017 to date.
CODE will convene stakeholders in each state to set up CoP with equitable representation of Women, Men, youth, and PWDs.
A retreat/capacity building will be held for 60 Community of Practice members from the 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria, CODE staff, and selected Joinbodi grantees to strengthen capacities and drive activities using the iFollowTheMoney model.
