SEMA Jigawa State Concludes Training Workshop on Flood Resilience

Capacity Building Initiative Empowers NEMA, SEMA Staff, and Stakeholders on Emergency Preparedness and Response

The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has successfully concluded a four-day training workshop on flood resilience, aimed at enhancing the capacity of emergency management stakeholders.

The workshop, titled “Building Urban Resilience in Nigeria: Emergency Preparedness and Response Assessment Lessons Learned,” took place from April 24 to 27, 2024.

Organized in collaboration with the World Bank and the Global Facility for Disaster Risk Reduction, the workshop brought together staff from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), SEMA, and various stakeholders. 

The training focused on emergency preparedness and response assessment, sharing lessons learned and best practices to build urban resilience in Nigeria.

During the closing ceremony, certificates were presented to participants, recognizing their successful completion of the workshop.

SEMA Jigawa State Concludes Training Workshop on Flood ResilienceDr. Haruna Mairiga, CNA, Executive Secretary of SEMA Jigawa State, commended the participants for their active engagement and emphasized the importance of building flood resilience in urban areas.

This capacity-building initiative demonstrates SEMA’s commitment to enhancing emergency management capabilities, ensuring a more resilient and prepared Jigawa State.
