The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has taken a crucial step towards ensuring a seamless and successful 2024 Hajj exercise by sensitizing its Zonal Officers and Center Officers on the upcoming airlift of intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
The sensitization meeting, held at the conference hall of the Secretarial of Jigawa State Health Workers Association in Dutse, aimed to update officials on the board’s preparations and emphasize the importance of adhering to the new Saudi Arabian laws applicable to pilgrims during this year’s holy pilgrimage exercise.
According to the Director General of Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo, the meeting was designed to brief officials on their responsibilities in Saudi Arabia, including familiarizing themselves with the local currency, the riyal, to assist Jigawa state pilgrims effectively.

Labbo stressed that the board has finalized all plans to kickstart the airlifting of the state intending pilgrims for this year’s Hajj, having completed the issuance of visas and provided yellow cards to the pilgrims. “At the moment, the board has submitted the visa documents to the bank to secure pilgrims’ Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) before commencing the airlift process,” he highlighted.
The board will soon convene a meeting with relevant stakeholders, including the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the chosen Max Airline company, to approve the airlifting schedules for the intending pilgrims from Jigawa state.
This year, a total of 1,296 intending pilgrims from Jigawa state, including government officials, will participate in the Hajj exercise alongside Muslim faithful from around the world.
The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board’s proactive approach to preparing for the 2024 Hajj exercise demonstrates its commitment to ensuring a successful and hitch-free pilgrimage for all intending pilgrims from the state.
