Defence Minister Highlights Importance of International Cooperation at NAF’s 60th Anniversary

The Honourable Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru Abubakar, has stressed the significance of international cooperation and partnership in enhancing the capabilities of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). 

Speaking at the NAF’s 60th anniversary celebration and the Third African Air Force Forum Conference, the Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration in effectively discharging the NAF’s mandate.

The Minister commended the NAF for their contributions to counter-terrorism efforts and praised the sharing of knowledge and resources with other air forces through platforms like the African Air Forces Forum. 

He acknowledged the challenging security landscape but expressed confidence in the Armed Forces’ ability to overcome these threats.

The Minister also highlighted the Federal Government’s investments in acquiring defence equipment and platforms for the NAF, made possible through local and international partnerships. 

He reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to ending insecurity in Nigeria and urged unity and determination in supporting the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The ceremony featured a tour of exhibition stands showcasing innovations in the aviation sector by foreign air space technological firms.

The Minister was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, and other Service Chiefs.

The personal assistant on media and publicity to minister of defence Mati Ali said “this event demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships to enhance its defence capabilities and ensure peace and security in the region”.
