KANO: We demand immediate restoration of our five emirates”- Usman S. Sarki Ph.D.

By Editor

Kano is a major symbol of a traditional institution emulated by all other states in the country and many other parts of Africa. The system is usually made up of leaders accepted by the overwhelming majority of masses who are the subjects of the leaders. Kano is a state with five emirates created in 2019 with the sole aim of bringing rapid development across the state.

The creation of these emirates came as a result of the people’s demand and has greatly impacted the social, economic, and political wellbeing of people in the emirates.

There was infrastructural development, such as the construction of township roads, specialist hospitals, and ensuring equity in political appointments and employment in the civil service, among many others.

The appointment of HRH Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir, HRH Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Abubakar II, and HRH Alhaji (Dr.) Tafida Abubakar Ila as Emirs of Bichi, Gaya, Karaye, and Rano, respectively, was done in the interest of the people, and the Emirs were warmly welcomed in their respective emirates.

This has given them absolute legitimacy to rule their people, and they succeeded in bringing remarkable developments in the emirates through various initiatives aimed at promoting the economy, education, morality, and security of the state.

Moreover, in 2020, the dream of Kano people came to reality with the appointment of HRH Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the 15th Emir of Kano, done in consultation and approval of all stakeholders concerned and in the best interest of Kano people.

The illegal dissolution of the five emirates and deposition of the Emirs is something we, the people of Kano and from the emirates, did not accept and will not accept because of our love and loyalty to the emirates and the Emirs.

We call on the Kano state government to respect and abide by the court order restraining the dissolution and deposition of the five Emirs in the interest of the good people of Kano state.”
