The Jigawa State Government has taken a significant step towards expanding access to quality education in the state by approving the report of the State Executive Council Committee on the offer for the sale of Khadija University, Majia to the State Government.
Khadija University, established in 2014, is a private university founded by a renowned businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Abdulraziz Garba Namadi, to provide quality education to the people of Jigawa State and beyond.
The university, named after the founder’s mother, Khadija, has since become a prominent institution in the region, offering various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in fields such as business, education, and the sciences.
However, due to financial constraints and other challenges, the university’s management has been struggling to sustain its operations, leading to the decision to sell the institution to the state government.
The Jigawa State Government, recognizing the potential of the university and its contribution to the state’s education sector, has constituted two special committees to advise on the procurement process and viability of the university if acquired by the state.
The committees, comprising experts in education, finance, and law, will assess the university’s infrastructure, facilities, and resources, as well as the administrative and financial implications of the acquisition.
This move is seen as a significant step towards enhancing education in Jigawa State, and the committees’ recommendations will guide the State Government’s decision on the matter.
