Jigawa State Government has inaugurated a steering committee to oversee the implementation of the Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) project, a World Bank program aimed at integrating immunization services with other essential services for children.
Governor Umar Namadi, while inaugurating the committee, outlined their terms of reference, which include reviewing and approving the project work plan, conducting quarterly review meetings, monitoring implementation, and ensuring prudent resource utilization.

The Governor urged the committee members to work diligently to achieve the project’s goals, benefiting the state’s children.
Dr. Abdullahi Muhammad Kainuwa, Chairman of the committee and Commissioner of Health, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the honor and privilege.
He acknowledged Jigawa State’s selection as one of the 12 pilot states due to its impressive routine immunization performance and the Governor’s commitment to deposit $100,000 towards the project.
The IMPACT project aims to address malaria control, immunization plus, knowledge change, and contingent emergency response. The committee assures its commitment to fulfilling the project’s components, as outlined in the terms of reference.
This collaboration demonstrates Jigawa State’s dedication to enhancing the health and wellbeing of its children, aligning with World Bank’s mission to promote the rights and welfare of children globally.
