The Civil Society Coalition on Security, Peace, and Conflict Resolution held a press conference at the NUJ Secretariat on Saturday, July 27, 2024, to discuss alternative methods to protest.
National President Muhammad Musbahu Basirka emphasized the importance of effective and strategic advocacy in driving positive change and promoting accountability in governance.

The coalition recently trained 45 social media influencers and student activists from the seven states of the northwest geopolitical zone on advocacy techniques.
The training aimed to empower participants to leverage their talents and expertise to demand accountability from government officials and promote positive change.
Basirka highlighted the need for constructive engagement and dialogue, stating, “We believe that advocacy is a more effective and sustainable way to bring about change than protest.”
The coalition’s initiative has been commended by stakeholders, who see it as a positive step towards promoting peace and stability in the region.
By promoting advocacy over protest, the Civil Society Coalition aims to create a more constructive and inclusive environment for driving positive change in the northwest geopolitical zone.
