A new initiative aimed at promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for people with disabilities has been launched in Yobe and northeast in general.
The media and disability care initiative MEDCI is a non governmental organisations established to assist people with disabilities to achieve active integrated and productive living.
According to the executive director of the new organisation, Rajab Muhammad Ismail said media and disability care initiative was established to ensure a society characterized by inclusivity, equal access and socioeconomic equality.

He said with the median meeting of the organisation plans to create awareness through media to sensitized the public on inclusivity, with core values including integrity, choice, inclusion , access and partnership.
This efforts according to him is expected to improve the living conditions of people in the northeast sub region.
Rajab Muhammad emphasised that media and disability care initiative would also focus on media and journalism to educate, support and empower youth and women to maximize their potentials.
Shedding more lights the programme manager of the organisation Mr Ishaku Adamu assured that MEDCI would focus on assisting people to have full integrity and productive lives.
He further reassured that the organisation would provide child protection mechanisms among others.
