SWS International Lauds Governor of Jigawa State for Bridging the Gender Gap

The administration of Mallam Umar Namadi, Executive Governor of Jigawa State has been lauded for its policy thrust in curbing Gender- Based Violence (GBV) and for the empowerment initiatives that has witnessed many women breaking above the glass ceiling and becoming economically sufficient. The Governor was also commended for his commitment to gender equality, equity and inclusiveness in continuing to include women in his Administration.
This was made known known during the official presentation of an ward by the International President of the Standup for Women Society (SWS) International, Lib. Barr Mrs Deborah Ijadele-Adetona in Government House, Jigawa State yesterday. The President of the organization who was represented by the International Administrative Officer, Liberator Timinepere Jombo Idoko thanked the Governor for being gender-sensitive and for ensuring that the policy thrust of his administration gives women the leverage to aspire and be productive. She stated that the SWS is in the forefront of advocacies for gender parity, promotion of the rights of women and the girl-child and the entrenchment of intrinsic family values to help family institutions grow, stabilize and progress.

Presenting the Award of Excellence to the Governor, the International President urged him not to rest on his oars in being a champion for the overall wellbeing of women and the development of the state.
Responding, the Governor commended the International President for the honour and recognition, stating that as a Gender friendly governor, his responsibility is first centered on humanity and that women are pivotal in the drive to create an equal and egalitarian society for all, hence the reason for the inclusion of women in his cabinet.
The governor also said he decided to key into the national policy for gender introduced by the Federal government as it is aimed at addressing the challenges faced by women and children, geared towards development, reduce poverty for sustainable development.
Mallam Namadi outlined some of his policies on the girl child education ,mobile maternity clinic known as Haiwuwa lafia for safe delivery for women , women empowerment cutting across the state .
According to him with this recognition he will continue to do more for the women in the state .
Speaking earlier ,the International president Lib Barr Deborah Ijadele Adetona who was represented by the (International Administrative officer Liberator Timinepere Jombo Idoko commended the governor for granting the team the privilege to meet with him and present the award .
Mrs Idoko stated that the award on Gender inclusion in his Administration was given to him during the International conference of the standup for women society in owerri Imo state
According to Mrs Idoko ,she has been officially directed by the International President to join the state chapter executive to present the award to him .
While, speaking she highlighted the aims and objective of thebeing Organization stating it is a networking umbrella for women established to s women together to speak in one voice .
The organization according to her advocate policies for women and Children development ,economically politically socially and otherwhere Liberator Sarah Ogodo, Member, National Fund Raising Committee, and Liberator Amina Bala Abba, State Chairperson.
