Governor Namadi’s 2024 Development Agenda: Transforming Jigawa State

Jigawa State, under the leadership of Governor Malam Umar Namadi, has witnessed significant transformation in various sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture. As the year 2024 unfolds, Governor Namadi’s administration has outlined an ambitious development agenda aimed at consolidating previous gains and propelling the state towards sustainable growth and prosperity.
One of the flagship projects of Governor Namadi’s 2024 agenda is the massive investment in road infrastructure. The administration has allocated billions of naira for the construction and rehabilitation of roads across the state. Key projects include: The 45-kilometer Kargo-Dutse road, which will connect the state capital to the neighboring town of Kargo, enhancing economic activities and social interactions.
The 27-kilometer Gwaram-Birnin Kudu road, which will improve access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities in the region. The dualization of the Dutse-Kano highway, which will reduce travel time, enhance safety, and boost trade between Jigawa State and neighboring Kano State.
For Education and Human Capital Development, Governor Namadi’s administration recognizes the critical role of education in driving economic growth and social development. To this end, the government has committed to:
– Upgrading and expanding existing schools, including the construction of new classrooms, laboratories, and libraries.
– Introducing vocational training programs to equip youths with skills in areas such as agriculture, technology, and entrepreneurship.
– Implementing a teacher training and development program to enhance the quality of instruction and student outcomes.
In the Healthcare and Social Services sectors, the administration has prioritized healthcare and social services, with a focus on: – Upgrading and equipping healthcare facilities, including hospitals and primary healthcare centers, implementing programs to reduce maternal and child mortality, including the provision of free maternal healthcare services, and expanding social protection programs, including the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme, to support vulnerable populations.
Withing the Agriculture and Economic Empowerment sector, Agriculture remains a vital sector in Jigawa State, and Governor Namadi’s administration has committed to: Supporting farmers through the provision of inputs, such as seeds, fertilizers, and tractors, implementing irrigation projects to enhance crop yields and reduce dependence on rainfall, establishing agro-processing facilities to add value to agricultural produce and create jobs.

In the cross section of interview with Jigawa post, people of Jigawa state are praying for the governor over the transformation that he brought to the state in terms of infrastructure, health, education, empowerment, socioeconomic development among others. They alleged that the governor should continue forever as the leader of the state as he followed the footstep of the former PDP governor Dr. Sule Lamido. They consider the works of Governor Malam Umar Namadi in two years as enough for 8 years looking at the previous administration.
