Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has signed N698.3 billion 2025 budget into law with the 76 percent capital expenditure.
The signing ceremony was held at the state’s government house chamber, Dutse on Tuesday 31st December, 2024.
Governor Namadi said the budget aimed to develop Jigawa state infrastructure and human capital development.
He said “this year’s budget of N698.3 billion naira is highest budget in the history of Jigawa state which aimed to restructure the state into greater state”.
Namadi then thanks the state House of assembly for speedy passage of the budget and to the ministries, departments and agencies, Namadi congratulates them and salutes them for the technical expertise of the budget process.
To the members of the state council chamber, Namadi prays them for their immense contributions towards ensuring that the budget meet the reality and assured.
He then urged the MDAs, technical officers and other sectors that saddled with the responsibilities in implementation of the law to avoid any sense of corruption and be accountable to their activities and quickly discharge their duties as stipulated in the budget law.
Jigawa post reports that the State House of Assembly have passed the state’s 2025 Appropriation Bill of N698.3 billion on Monday, 30th December, 2024 at the house flow. The Assembly also approved N184.4 billion as the 2025 budget for the 27 local government councils in the state.
Jigawa post reports that, the lawmakers passed the two bills at plenary sitting on Monday. The Chairman of the Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Hamza Ibrahim presented the report of the committee containing over 62 recommendations, which the lawmakers unanimously adopted.
The state budget is made up of N90,730,520,000 personnel cost; N70,171,960,00, recurrent; and N537,397,000,520 for capital projects.
On the local councils’ budget, the committee made seven recommendations providing the setting aside of 17% for pension, primary healthcare, and universal basic education.
The Speaker, Hon. Haruna Aliyu, who presided over the sitting, expressed the hope that the budget will be implemented to provide people-oriented projects across the state.
