Jigawa Govt’ Urged to Empower Women in Local Government

Hajia Hauwa Yusif Gumel, Special Assistant to the Governor on Gender in the Northwestern part of Jigawa State, has called on the Jigawa State Council of APC and Governor Mal Umar Namadi to appoint women as secretaries and supervisors in local government councils.

Gumel made the plea during an interview, citing the positive impact women’s empowerment would have on socio-economic education, health, and political leadership. She emphasized women’s dedication, commitment, and accountability in leadership positions, making them ideal for boosting grassroots politics.

The special assistant commended Governor Namadi’s previous efforts in empowering women through various appointments and initiatives, but urged him to do more to eliminate barriers created by selfish politicians.

The move is seen as a significant step towards achieving gender equality and empowering women in Jigawa State.
