In a bid to enhance emergency response efforts in Jigawa State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (JISEMA) have initiated a collaborative framework. This development follows a familiarization visit by FRSC officials, led by Sector Commander CC Aishat Sa’adu, to the JISEMA office in Dutse.
The proposed collaboration aims to leverage the expertise and resources of both agencies to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies across the state. As part of the agreement, the FRSC will provide manpower assistance and other support to JISEMA, enhancing the agency’s capacity to respond to emergencies.
CC Aishat Sa’adu commended JISEMA’s efforts in responding to emergencies across the state, noting that the agency’s activities are invaluable. She emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing emergencies, stating that the FRSC is committed to supporting JISEMA in its efforts.
In his response, JISEMA Executive Secretary Dr. Haruna Mairiga expressed appreciation for the visit and assured that his agency is committed to working with the FRSC. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between agencies to address emergencies promptly, noting that JISEMA is already working closely with security agencies and the fire service.
Mairiga stated that there is a committee that was set aside in order to respond to flood and other emergency like the recent communal clash between Hausa and Fulani in Miga local government area.
The collaboration between FRSC and JISEMA is part of Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda to support the people and address poverty and socioeconomic issues in the state. The governor’s efforts to uplift Jigawa State, particularly his commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens, were also acknowledged.
This collaborative framework is expected to enhance the effectiveness of emergency response efforts in Jigawa State, ultimately contributing to the safety and well-being of citizens.
