The State Taskforce on Petroleum Monitoring, Sale, and Distribution has cautioned filling stations in Jigawa State against manipulating their liter gauges, a practice that shortchanges unsuspecting customers. The warning was issued by the Taskforce Chairman, Rtd Colonel Muhd Alhassan, during an inspection visit to filling stations in parts of the state.
Colonel Alhassan emphasized that the Taskforce would publicly disclose the identity of any filling station found engaging in such sharp practices and would not hesitate to shut down any station involved in under-dispensing fuel to customers through deliberate manipulation of dispensers.
However, the Chairman commended some filling stations in Ringim, Hadejia, and Dutse for selling petroleum products with accurate liter calibration. He reaffirmed the Taskforce’s commitment to routine inspections to ensure compliance and maintain sanity in the sale of petroleum products in the state.
The Taskforce also warned that any filling station found hoarding petroleum products would face sanctions. The warning is part of the state’s efforts to protect consumers and promote transparency in the petroleum industry.
