Stakeholders seek pathways to reposition Jigawa State public service as a driver of economic growth and service delivery.

A two-day stakeholder consultative session on Public Sector Management Reform in Jigawa State has been a resounding success. The event which took place between 29th and 30th of May, 2025, brought together a diverse group of voices committed to shaping the future of public service in Jigawa State.

The session which was supported by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)’s Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement (PACE) featured dynamic syndicate sessions, open dialogues, and reflective discussions aimed at identifying practical actions to address longstanding challenges and unlock new opportunities for public service reform.

Participants engaged deeply in identifying actionable pathways to strengthen service delivery, governance, and institutional accountability, emphasizing the importance of governance as the bedrock of economic growth.

Present at the session were retired and serving heads of civil Service, retired and serving permanent secretaries and directors, representatives of labour unions and civil society groups.

Participants shared a sense of renewed commitment and optimism, expressing appreciation for the inclusive and consultative nature of the session, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to shaping a stronger, effective and productive public service system.

The State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri expressed appreciation to the PACE program for being a pillar of support to the Jigawa State Government and commited to ensuring the implementation of recommendations from the session.

In her address, PACE’s Deputy National Team Leader, Titilope Fakoya commended the participatory nature of the session and the resolve to accelerate reforms. Her statement aligns with the remark from a participant
“This session reminded us that sustainable reform must be locally driven, and it has laid the groundwork for real, achievable progress.”

The outcomes from the consultation session will feed into the development of a comprehensive reform agenda for Jigawa State public service.
