Jigawa First Lady Flags Off “Free to Shine” Campaign to Eliminate HIV/AIDS, visits Zangon Maje, Donate N500, 000

The First Lady of Jigawa State and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi, has flagged off the “Free to Shine, Triple Elimination Campaign” at Ringim General Hospital. The campaign aims to eliminate HIV/AIDS, Syphilis, and Hepatitis among women of reproductive age, with a focus on eliminating mother-to-child transmission and providing care and treatment for affected children.
Th key objectives of the Campaign is to eliminate Mother-to-Child Transmission (EMTCT) of HIV/AIDS, Syphilis, and Hepatitis, to provide care and treatment for children born with HIV/AIDS, and to ensure every woman is free to shine, every child is born free of infections, and every family lives with dignity and good health.
The First Lady called on all stakeholders, including health workers, community leaders, and families, to unite in support of this life-saving cause. She emphasized the importance of working together to build a generation free from the burden of preventable diseases.
Following the flag-off ceremony, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi visited Zango Maje in Taura Local Government Area to condole with the community over a tragic boat accident that claimed 12 lives. She made a financial donation of ₦500,000 to support the affected families and offered heartfelt prayers for the souls of the deceased and healing for the injured.
Importance of Avoiding Stigmatization
Dr. Mariya Ibrahim Ringim, Special Assistant on the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, emphasized the need to avoid stigmatization of people living with HIV/AIDS, stating that stigmatization is more dangerous than the disease itself.
The “Free to Shine” campaign is a bold and compassionate health intervention driven by the Renewed Hope Initiative, with a vision to protect the health and future of Nigerian mothers and children. The Jigawa State government’s alignment with this national mission demonstrates its commitment to building a healthier and more prosperous society.
