The Jigawa State Government has officially launched the second phase of its Workers’ Agricultural Support Program, an initiative designed to boost food security and enhance the livelihoods of civil servants and public officials across the state.

Speaking at the launch ceremony held at the Government House in Dutse, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Aminu Usman who represented Governor Mallam Umar Namadi described the initiative as a clear demonstration of the administration’s unwavering commitment to agricultural development, which remains the backbone of Jigawa’s economy.
He noted that despite agriculture’s vital role in the lives of the people, many government workers continue to struggle with food self-sufficiency due to inflation, limited resources, and inadequate access to agricultural inputs.
The Head of Civil Service, Muhammad Dagaceri, commended the administration for sustaining the program, stressing its direct impact on the economic well-being of public workers.
He disclosed that during the first phase, the government approved ₦36.75 million, which benefited 8,828 civil servants and public officials.
Technical Adviser on Agriculture, Saifullahi Musa, emphasized the significance of the second phase, stating that it would not only consolidate the gains of the first phase but also extend support to previously unreached beneficiaries. He praised the transparency and efficiency that have characterized the program’s implementation.
Representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), lauded the state government’s continued efforts to prioritize workers’ welfare, and pledged their support to ensure the success and sustainability of the program.
