In a bid to boost entrepreneurship and economic growth, Arewa Development Support Initiative (ADSI) in collaboration with Jigawa State Youth Empowerment and Employment Agency has empowered 200 micro-entrepreneurs.
Comrade Hashim Haruna Hashim, Special Assistant to the Jigawa State Governor on ICT and ADSI Coordinator, disclosed that the beneficiaries were selected from Gumel and Dutse local governments as pilot areas. Each beneficiary received N20,000, with the state government adding 300% to their capital, totaling N6 million.
Hashim said DSI aims to equip micro-entrepreneurs with essential skills in financial management, branding, and business development. The initiative also fosters a supportive network among entrepreneurs, promoting sustainable growth.
Dr. Habibu Ubale Kanya, Director General of the Youth Empowerment and Employment Agency, commended ADSI’s efforts. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to empowering youths through entrepreneurship development programs.
Aminu Umar Katangare, a petty trader, expressed gratitude for the support. “I assure you, I will utilize this fund to boost my business,” he said.

Abba Abdullahi, another beneficiary, thanked the organizers and advised fellow entrepreneurs to maintain their businesses, leveraging the support for growth.
Jigawa Post report that ADSI operates a unique funding model, where members contribute N2,000 monthly to support its activities and programs.
It added that the empowerment program demonstrates the state government’s dedication to fostering entrepreneurship and economic development. ADSI’s collaboration with the Youth Empowerment and Employment Agency showcases the power of partnerships in driving growth.
