About 2000 vulnerable benefit From NG-cares support in Jigawa

The Jigawa state government has supported 1950 vulnerable people under the NG-Cares

The Jigawa state government has supported 1950 vulnerable people under the NG-Cares programme in the state.

The beneficiaries were drawn from across the state’s 27 local government areas with a view to improving their socio- economic status.

This was during the launching of 2023 inputs and agricultural assets FADAMA House Dutse, on Wednesday 17th January, 2024.

The breakdown of items given were 320 bag of rice, 160 maize, 170 millet, 120 Sorghum, 99, Sheep, 323 Goat, 193 Water Pump, 138 processing Machine, and 86 broiler day old chicken.

The selected beneficiaries are 59 percent males and 41 percent females.

Launching the programme, the state’s governor Malam Umar Namadi said the Second batch of the distribution is launched with a view to ensuring a stable socio-economic viability of Jigawa people

The Governor which released about 1.5 billion naira for the next batch of the support said the beneficiaries will be carefully selected for the empowerment programme.

In his remarks, the chairman NG-Cares committee in the state Dr. Saifullahi Umar said they adopt a regorous and scientific methodology for beneficiary and community selection.

Umar said the committee multiple approaches in the selection of communities and beneficiaries consistent with approved guidelines of NG-cares project.

The method used according to him, were generic operation manual (GOM), Jigawa poverty and vulnerability community ranking, and simple random selection technique.

He said a total of of 120 community were visited across 27 local government withing five days, one thousand nine hundred and fifty (1950) beneficiaries were selected from poor and vulnerable hard to reach areas with little or no government presence.

The chairman stated that their approach involved a comprehensive assessment of the socio-economic landscape, ensuring that the selection process aligns with NG-Cares guidelines.

Mai unguwa Sule one of the beneficiaries said he has never received any support from government thinking that their community has not been mapped in the state.

He cries of happiness as he thanks the state governor Malam Umar A Namadi for his kind gesture towards ensuring that everybody is inclusive.

Huraira Hudu from Sarari village in Dutse, expressed her happiness and ensuring that she will make use of the properties she received judiciously.

She thanks the state government as according to her this is the first time of her life to receive properties worth hundred of thousand of Naira.

Hansatu Sule Dafai community in Dutse, said God will bless the Governor and his people for making this reality to her.

She cries of happiness that she will be a wealthy individual in the next years ahead.
