JIGAWA: PLANE engages Media-CSOs to address education challenges

In a landmark collaboration, Media outlets and civil society organizations in Jigawa state have come together to champion education reform in the state.

The meeting was sponsored and facilitated by Partnership for learning All in Nigeria (PLANE) with the support from UKAID aimed at ensuring better education for all. 

The partnership, aimed at amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and driving policy changes, ensuring accountability, budget releases, advocating for more funding and policy implementation in the education sectors.

At a media and CSOs briefing in Dutse on Thursday 23rd May, 2024, representatives from the media and civil society organizations announced their commitment to work together to: investigate and expose systemic issues in the education sector, amplify the stories and concerns of marginalized communities, promote successful education initiatives and models, and mobilize public support for education reform. 

One of the facilitator ,” said Mr. Tasiu Abubakar said “We are proud to work with the media to amplify the voices of those who need it most on educational matters in the state. “

He said the collaboration has already led to increased funding for education initiatives and the implementation of the policy and programs.

Another facilitator Abdulkadir Kaila said “This synergy demonstrates the power of collective impact,” . “Together, we can achieve far more than we could alone.”

He said the partnership is set to continue for the some years to come, with a view to transform the educational sector in Jigawa state.
