In a significant boost to the state’s healthcare sector, a high-level delegation from Malaria Consortium, an international funding organization, paid a courtesy call on Governor Mallam Umar Namadi at the Government House, Dutse.
The delegation, led by Dr. Jean Thomas, was in Jigawa State to brief the governor on their activities and progress in the fight against malaria.
During the visit, Dr. Thomas commended Jigawa State for its remarkable progress in combating malaria, noting that the state is one of 13 Nigerian states supported by the Global Fund.

He highlighted the organization’s commitment to strengthening the health system and combating diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV, and malaria.
The Malaria Consortium’s delegation praised the state government’s efforts in implementing effective malaria control measures, including the distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets, indoor residual spraying, and malaria testing and treatment. They also acknowledged the state’s progress in improving healthcare infrastructure and increasing access to quality healthcare services.
Governor Namadi welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their support, emphasizing the importance of international partnerships in addressing global health challenges.
He urged the Delegation to continue rendering assistance to vulnerable groups in society, including pregnant women and children under five, who are most affected by malaria.
The governor also highlighted his administration’s ambitious plans for the health sector, including the construction of new healthcare facilities, recruitment of additional healthcare workers, and implementation of innovative healthcare programs.
He emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between the state government and international organizations like the Global Fund to achieve significant progress in healthcare outcomes.
The visit by the Malaria Consortium and other Global Fund delegations underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing global health challenges and recognizing the efforts of state governments in Nigeria to improve healthcare outcomes.
It also highlights the progress made by Jigawa State in combating malaria and its commitment to strengthening the health system.
