First Lady of Jigawa State, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi said a good percentage of women in the state had been empowered with money to improve their petty businesses as well as given palliatives to feed their families.
In another round of palliatives distribution to about 1,200 women across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state apart from the first and second batch she said it is a continue process.
Mrs Namadi after flagging off of the disbursement at the Banquet Hall Govt House Dutse told reporters in an interview that the magnanimous series of palliatives distribution’s gesture came from the First Lady, Senator Olu Remi Tinubu.
The 1,200 vulnerable women received 25kg bags of rice each donated by the First Lady of the federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Olu Remi Tinubu who has been given out such palliatives in the state to cushion down the effect of food scarcity.
It would be recalled Just about two weeks ago another set of 1,200 Jigawa vulnerable women had received similar gesture which also said to have come from the Senator Olu Remi Tinubu.
Also just last week, another 200 women were empowered with N50,000.00 each at Gwari village in Dutse Local Government Area.
Mrs Namadi told reporters that the beneficiaries were drawn from the 27 Local Government most of whom are vulnerable to the point that they could not afford three square meals a day.
She said the present administration is committed to the service of humanity and the less privileged in the society so that nobody is left out of the dividends of democracy.
“In the selection of the beneficiaries, we used the communities, we went through the religious leaders and the traditional rulers to come up with the list of those deserved to benefit from the gesture.
“Empowering and assisting women is equal to empowering the family and we do hope that this palliative will help the benefitting families in this trying period of social and economic challenges,” she concluded.
